Nick- I just stumbled across this thread again in google regarding A albopilosa and I am stunned to see how dry it looks in Jalisco during the dry season. Incredible.

Yes, it was very lush seeming once we got fairly close to Guadalajara. But it was really dry on the Central Plateau at the time we were traveling, as the drought that affected us in South Texas was also there, since the High sat over us for ages. So it as dry in Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas.

Well most Agaves like it dry in winter! And as beautifull they are in the wild we you do not get them on our latitude. The light is not strong enough. I have several Agaves from Mexico like A. potorum from Mitla in Oaxaca. In the wild they look much better. Like a sculpture sometimes.
