Post Angiopteris fokiensis in long dormancy, what's wrong(update)
I have potted this "giant" Angiopteris fokiensis(4kgs without soil and fronds) over a month, but it seem no montion at all. However the stipule are still fresh.
I don't know what's wrong with it. I use Leaf-mold soil from local mountain and keep the soil very moist. Although my area doesn't grow this tropical or subtropical species.
One month has passed by, I am a little worried about it. it is on the decline possiblely.

the only sign of living, but it doesn't grow at all for one month! :x

I don't think there will be anything wrong with it but Angiopteris and Marratia species are very, very, very slow!

Looks like you are keeping it in good conditions so just be patient and maybe in another 6 months time it might throw up a new frond or two.

Yes, Mark. Maybe it is in the slow recovery and accommodation. It is an very old plant which I suppose should have a good dozens of years.

As long as it didn't get any frost, you should see growth off of one of the stipules at the very least. I lost a big A. lygodiifolia to cold, but recovered a couple plants off the main growth through the stipules. So, don't give up hope yet!

That dormant crozier looks fine to me - just a matter of extreme patience! Tom Ballinger, the most useful photographer of ferns anywhere on the net, has a good image of a tubbed Hong Kong specimen in his Flickr gallery... http://www.flickr.com/photos/polylepis/6551593293/

George, in my experience, the best way to get stipules of Angiopteris and Marattia to produce new plants is to place the stipules somwhere warm and humid with good overhead light for about 14 hours a day. I have used a plastic propagator with an overhead fluorescent light on a timer. You must ensure the stipules and the compost in the pot are moist but not wet, otherwise you will get rotting off. It's best to check the stipules daily. Normally (unless it's winter) you don't need a heated propagator; in my case the fluorescent lights were a few centimetres from the propagator which provided sufficient warmth. Even then it took about 2 months before any growth occurred. Good luck!

Thanks very much your constructive proposal Valdy, You are right, my soil is too wet now, even you can squeeze water now. I will keep it proper moist from now. The A.fokiensis now is exposed to light 12-13hr a day though not overhead but 45° slanting natural sunlight.
temperature is ensured now at 20°+(but i am worried about the sorching sun in the July and August, it can be near damnly 38°)
I hope it will ride out the coming wave of heat.

George, you should definitely shade it from the direct sun, or you will have cooked Angiopteris!

I'm putting the lastest status of this small giant Angiopteris.
It was growing in natural habitat before I transplanted it. Anyone has any idea of its age? 20 years or more?
