Moving Tetrapanax 'Rex'
Evening all, i am looking to move a planted Tetrapanax 'Rex' from one area of my garden to another is this advisable? The plant is approx 50 cm high with 5 leaves? and one on the way out. Thank you, neil.

Hi Neil.
Tetrapanax are notoriously hard to move without incurring the loss of the main trunk. Try to move it on a cloudy and cooler day, get as much root as humanly possible and water adequately.
Regards

I moved a small one this spring while it was just about still dormant. The main growing point shrivelled up and died. The next point down took over and it took a while to get going, producing very small leaves to begin with. It is doning very well now.
So I would agree, best to move when dormant but still expect some set-back.
