Trachelospermum 'Star of toscane' Question
Hi, could anyone tell me does yellow flowered Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Star of toscane' require more heat for growing and flowering compare common T. jasminoides? What about its hardiness compare T. jasminoides?
Thank you Roman

Re: Trachelospermum 'Star of toscane' Question
Roman,
Found your post about your Trachelospermum. The hardiness of the plants is the same for all of them. They all require south or west facing aspect with shelter. There is no heat difference or tolerance between the cultivars. In the UK they are all H4 hardiness (-10 to -5C) meaning the maximum exposure to cold and frost in a very sheltered position would be around -10C, but probably with severe damage to the plant. I think your concern is growing this plant in your location in winter. I think Moscow gets a lot colder than -10C, so you would need a lot of winter protection. You may be off growing in it a pot, so you can put it under cover in extreme cold winter weather. Good luck on this one!....

Re: Trachelospermum 'Star of toscane' Question
I grow trachelospermums, including Star of Tuscany. I have them both in the ground and in pots. Regarding hardiness, -10c defoliates them and also kills some of the stems, -5c damages some the leaves, but nothing serious.
Trachelospermums are good in large pots, I give mine a good trim in spring.
